IPB University Signs MoU with Academy of Food Security, Perak State, Malaysia to Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Food Security

IPB University with Akademi Sekuriti Makanan (ASM) Perak Malaysia, represented by its collaboration partners: Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (SADC), Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) and Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR), agreed to collaborate in the field of agriculture and community service focusing on food security. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was carried out by the Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria together with the CEO of Perak SADC, Dato’ Haji Yahanis Bin Yahya, Vice Chancellor of USAS, Professor Dato’ Dr. Wan Sabri Bin Wan Yusof, and CEO of Institut Darul Ridzuan, Dr. Maisarah Binti Ahmad. The MoU signing was also part of the official working visit of the Menteri Besar of Perak, YAB Dato Seri Saarani Bin Mohamad and was attended by 103 delegates from the Perak Food Security Academy Malaysia.

“This MoU is an affirmation of our commitment to collaborative research, innovation and academic excellence, especially in the field of food security. Together, we aim to address existing challenges and create opportunities that can benefit the institution, society, and the wider international community,” said Prof. Arif Satria in his speech (19/12) at Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor.

Not only that, Prof. Arif Satria said that until now, IPB’s innovations, programs, and community service have reached more than 4,500 villages spread across 29 provinces in Indonesia, which covers 6.1% of the number of villages in Indonesia.

USAS Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Wan Sabri Bin Wan Yusof, described that the key programs of the Perak Food Security Academy are targeted at achieving sustainability and food security.

Guided by the Directorate of Global Connectivity, the Menteri Besar of Perak and the ASM Perak delegation had the opportunity to visit the Agribusiness and Technology Park and listen to presentations on some of IPB’s flagship programs in the development of Indonesia’s agromaritime communities such as One Village, One Ceo (OVOC), Tani Center, and Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat.
