Strengthening its global network with Canada, IPB University collaborates with the University of Saskatchewan
Singapore, 27 February 2024. IPB University and the University of Saskatchewan (USask) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding to embark on a new partnership in research and academic. Signed during the Canada-in-Asia Conference 2024 in Singapore, the MoU serves as a significant initiative to foster mutual and reciprocal partnerships between the two institutions. The MoU was signed by the Rector of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria, and the President and Vice-Chancellor of USask, Dr. Peter Stoicheff as witnessed by Prof. Iskandar Siregar, the Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni of IPB and Dr. Baljit Singh, the Vice President for Research of USask. Also attending the discussion and witnessing the MoU signing from the IPB side were Prof. Ernan Rustiadi, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Community Development, and Dr. Fitriya N. Dewi, Deputy Director for International Collaboration and Networks. From USask, Dr. Angela Bedard-Haughn, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources and Dr. Steve Webb, the Executive Director of the Global Institute for Food Security at USask were also in attendance and provided insightful thoughts and ideas during the discussion.
“I believe IPB and USask share some mutual interests and missions, such as in the field of Agriculture and in achieving Sustainability. This shared mission may serve as the basis of the collaborative activities that we can plan between our two institutions”, said Prof. Arif. During the discussion, Prof. Arif also shared IPB approach in embracing techno-sociopreneurship, and how partnership with USask can lead to joint innovations and bring more impact to society. Dr. Stoicheff echoed the vision, “USask partnerships allow us to expand our reach and better position us to address global challenges of today that will affect our collective futures”.
The University of Saskatchewan is a prominent Canadian university located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is known for its strong programs in agriculture, veterinary medicine, engineering, and other fields. As one of Canada’s top research universities, USask is particularly renowned for its contributions to agricultural research and innovation. Sharing a lot of the same vision and core mandate as IPB University, USask will serve as a strategic partner to enhance IPB’s research capabilities, and together, the partnership aims to address global challenges in agriculture and other related fields.
