IPB Strengthens Cooperation through ASEA UNINET Consortia
IPB University participated in the 19th ASEA UNINET Plenary Meeting held at the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, from 26 February to 1 March 2024. ASEA UNINET is a network of universities, consisting of European and South-East Asian universities with the goal of promoting the continuous internationalisation of education and research. The consortium consists of more than 90 universities from 16 countries in ASEAN and Europe, including Austria (20 members), Thailand (18 members), Indonesia (11 members), Vietnam (11 members), Malaysia (8 members), Italy (6 members), Iran (2 members), Myanmar (2 member), Czechia (1 member), Germany (1 Member), Pakistan (1 member), Philippines (1 member). At the 19th Plenary Meeting, in addition to the election of the president and vice-president of ASEA UNINET, the members also approved new members of the consortia.
As a growing consortium, ASEA UNINET opens up opportunities for cooperation in the field of education and research among its members. This consortium is supported by Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) as well as the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. ASEA UNINET has several scholarships and research grants programmes, among others, Ernst Mach Grants – ASEA-UNINET, Indonesia-Austria Scholarship Programme and Funding within Asean-UNinet Projects that provide opportunities for Indonesian young generation and researchers to continue their studies in Austria as well as develop research.
Director of Global Connectivity, Dr. Eva Anggraini, who represented IPB University at the 19th ASEA UNINET Plenary meeting stated that IPB is committed to developing and strengthening a network of cooperation with the entire ASEA University through various programmes, including joint research and publication, staff and student exchange, as well as sharing knowledge through joint webinars, conferences, and summer courses.
