IPB University Receives DAPT-Equity Project Grant for International Joint Module Development

Bogor, August 16, 2024 – To enhance the quality of international education, IPB University, through the Directorate of International Education-IPB, has received a grant from the Higher Education Endowment Fund (DAPT) through the EQUITY PROJECT for the development of Joint Modules. This grant has been awarded to 13 study programs across various faculties at IPB, in collaboration with partner educational institutions from abroad (outside Indonesia).

A Joint Module is a learning material co-designed by two or more educational institutions, aimed at providing students with in-depth and experiential learning on specific topics. The program is designed flexibly based on the learning architecture of the study programs and can take the form of academic core courses, capstone projects, enrichment courses, summer courses, or winter courses. Each module has a minimum of 3 credits (SKS), with one credit equivalent to 45 hours of learning.

Here is the list of study programs receiving the Joint Module grant along with their partner institutions:

  2. Veterinary Medicine, SKHB – Kasetsart University, Thailand
  3. Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences – Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
  4. Food Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology – School of Agro-Industry, Mae Fah Luang University (SAI MFU), Thailand
  5. Agro-Industrial Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology – Maejo University, Thailand
  6. Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – Sokendai University, Japan, and Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia
  7. Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – Universiti Malaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and International Islamic University Malaysia
  8. Management, Faculty of Economics and Management – Songkhla Rajabhat University, Thailand
  9. Environmental and Resource Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management – Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Malaysia
  10. Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

During the evaluation meeting on Joint Module development with International Class grant recipients on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, representatives from several study programs outlined their implementation plans.

Riza A Pasaribu, M.Si, the Person In Charge (PIC) of the Joint Module Program from the Marine Science and Technology Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, explained that the goal of the Marine Science and Technology Joint Module is to be used in summer courses, winter courses, and short courses for the 2024/2025 academic year. This program will be available starting in August 2024, with a concrete plan to hold a summer course involving students from New Zealand in Wakatobi, focusing on field courses.

Meanwhile, Ivan Permana Putra, S.Si, M.Si, Ph.D., the PIC of the Joint Module Program from the Biology Study Program, stated that the developed module will be published in the form of a book with an ISBN. This module is planned to be implemented in a summer course that will involve students from Sokendai University and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

This grant is expected to encourage the development of international class programs at IPB University, as well as strengthen collaboration with global educational institutions. The intellectual property rights of these Joint Modules will be jointly owned by all partner universities involved.
