Bogor, January 22, 2025— As a significant step in strengthening international academic collaboration, delegations from the RIS Office for Sustainable Bio & Healthcare Resilience (Jeju Regional Innovation Platform) and Jeju National University (JNU), South Korea, visited IPB University on January 16-22, 2025. The delegation was led by Prof. Kyung-Hwan Boo from the College of Applied Life Science JNU, who is in charge of the CleanBIO Project. Together with Prof. Boo, the delegations consisted of two RIS staff, 5 undergraduate students, and two postgraduate students who are interested in exploring the potential for academic and research collaboration.

The JNU- RIS visit to IPB University began with a formal discussion at the IPB Rectorate Building, where representatives from both universities engaged in a meaningful dialog regarding prospective collaborations. The meeting was facilitated by Dr. Eva Anggraini, IPB University’s Director of Global Connectivity, who highlighted key areas for collaboration. One of the points discussed was joint research endeavors in agriculture and biochemistry. This is in line with the shared vision of both institutions to increase academic mobility and encourage cutting-edge research.

 

 

 

 

 

During their visit, the delegates from JNU-RIS visited the Agribusiness Technology Park, Science Technology Park, IPB Museum, and Smart Greenhouse and Plant Factory of IPB University.  They also visited the facilities of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, and Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center. The delegates seemed enthusiastic during the tour, which featured various innovations and excellence of IPB University in the fields of agriculture, environment, and biotechnology. The delegates were directly introduced to the technology and research approaches developed by IPB researchers.

On January 22, 2025, Students from IPB University and JNU successfully presented their research at an international student forum, held in conjunction with guest lectures by Prof. Kyung Hwan Boo (JNU), Prof. Darda Efendi (IPB), and Dr. Dimas Andrianto (IPB). The forum, themed “Advancing Research on Tropical and Sub-Tropical Fruits in Indonesia and Korea,” provided a platform for students and academics to exchange knowledge, showcase research findings, and discuss challenges and opportunities in agriculture and natural compounds.

“We are very satisfied with our visit to IPB University and look forward to further collaborations,” said Prof. Boo. This visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening academic ties between IPB University and JNU, paving the way for future research collaborations and student exchanges.
