IPB University Welcomed a Courtesy Visit from Singapore Management University (SMU)

January 15th 2025, IPB University welcomed a courtesy visit from Singapore Management University (SMU) and Enterprise Singapore delegation as part of thee Future Global Leader Programme. The delegation comprised 25 young civil servants from Enterprise Singapore and 10 program team members from SMU. The visit aimed to learn about IPB University’s research and education initiatives in sustainability and biofuels. The meeting was held at the Startup Centre Building, Science Techno Park (STP) IPB, Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor.

The visit commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Eva Anggraini, Director of Global Connectivity at IPB University, followed by a brief introduction through the IPB university’s profile video. Dr. Markus Karner, Academic Director of SMU Executive Development, delivered remarks on behalf of SMU, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome. “Thank you for welcoming our participants to your University. We hope to connect the expertise in this country to advance collaborative efforts in sustainability,” he stated. 

The session featured two insightful presentations: Advancing The Circular Economy: Utilizing Pao as SAF Raw Material and Biochar From EFB as A Soil Conditioner by Prof. Dr. Ir. Erliza Hambali, M.Si., and Bioenergy Contribution Towards Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions:Policy, Progress and Challenges by Dr. Ir. Meika Syahbana Rusli, M.Sc.Agr., which underscored IPB’s pivotal role in advancing renewable energy solutions.

Following the presentations by experts and discussions, the delegation toured the Science Techno Park to explore IPB’s innovation gallery and exhibitions. The participants expressed enthusiasm and admiration for IPB’s innovative technologies and sustainable initiatives. This visit served as an important step in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between IPB University, SMU and Enterprise Singapore, strengthening their ties in advancing sustainability and biofuel innovations.
