Visit of Participants of the Curriculum Design Workshop on Restoration Education by CIFOR-ICRAF to IPB University
Bogor, April 16, 2025 — IPB University welcomed the participants from the Curriculum Design Workshop on Restoration Education organized by CIFOR -ICRAF. This initiative aims to integrate landscape restoration topics into the higher education system and to shape a new generation of competent restoration experts.
The workshop was attended by 26 participants representing 12 universities, training institutions, and international organizations from 8 countries across Asia. The visit to IPB University on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, was a significant part of the workshop’s agenda.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Iskandar Z. Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni Relations, along with several other university leaders. The CIFOR-ICRAF delegation was represented by Dr. Cora van Oosten, from Capacity Development and Education, CIFOR-ICRAF. The session began with an introduction to IPB University through a presentation from the Directorate of Innovation and Technology, delivered by Dr. Mafrikhul. A presentation by IFSA Indonesia also enriched the discussion with student perspectives.
Participants engaged in dialogue and knowledge exchange on the challenges and opportunities of integrating restoration topics into higher education curricula. The visit concluded with a field trip to the IPB University campus forest and other facilities, providing a direct look into how ecological principles are implemented in educational practice. This visit reflects IPB University’s strong commitment to advancing restoration education and strengthening international collaboration for environmental sustainability.
