Visiting Professor “Prof. Mirna Mattjik”: Inspiring by Education and Innovation
Mirna Mattjik, Associate Teaching Professor from Colorado School of Mines, has visited the Agricultural Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology from the end of May until July 12th, 2024. In higher education, so that all students can get optimal learning, one of the things that can be implemented to stimulate a positive work and learning climate is to create an extension of the educator through peer mentoring.
To support the development of learning outlined by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Mirna Mattjik acted as the main resource person in the training for Summer Course (SC) Mentors in charge of the international Summer Course organized by the Department of Agricultural Industrial Engineering. This activity aims to create a collaborative ecosystem that improves learning effectiveness and a positive work climate. Together with Prof. Endang Warsiki and Dr. Elisa Anggraeni from TIN, as well as TIN graduate students (Elfira Febriani, Aufa Nisrina, Theresia Roselinda), Prof. Mirna Mattjik provided training that also included effective classroom management.
Furthermore, to encourage students’ interest in entrepreneurship and to provide concrete examples and share experiences, Prof. Mirna Mattjik and Prof. Erliza Hambali initiated a webinar with the theme “INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP”. This webinar was attended by more than 20 students from the PPM School of Management blended program with a focus on science-based entrepreneurship and agro-industry innovation.
The last program that is still in the process of incubation is a case study book of student final projects in the TIN department called “PRODUTA – Major Design Project”. This program aims to elevate students’ learning experience in agro-industry major design projects into examples of effective learning. This initiative is led by Dr. Elisa Anggraeni with support from two TIN graduate students (Elfira Febriani and Theresia Roselinda).
The series of visiting professor activities that have been carried out strengthen the international network of TIN study program and increase the competence and contribution of lecturers and researchers to the development of science and technology. Of course, this visiting professor activity contributes to the achievement of IKU 3 and IKU 6 and strengthening QS WUR IPB University.
