Summer Course – Family and Consumer Sciences
Nurturing Harmony in Family Life for Sustainable Living
Program Overview
The Summer Course 2025, themed “Nurturing Harmony in Family Life for Sustainable Living,” is designed to address the complex challenges faced by modern families, such as work-related stress, shifting social values, and technological advancements. These factors often disrupt family relationships, leading to instability. According to Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Indonesia, the divorce rate in Indonesia increased by 15% in 2023, highlighting the need for structured efforts to strengthen family resilience.
Research by UNESCO (2022) underscores that harmonious families positively impact mental health, productivity, and children’s education. Families capable of effective conflict management tend to be more resilient in navigating social and economic challenges. However, achieving harmony requires education and structured training to equip families with the necessary skills to maintain healthy relationships.
Program Objectives
To respond to the urgent need for family education centered on harmony and sustainability, this summer course integrates theory and practice using a multidisciplinary approach involving family psychology, sociology, and education. The program also aims to promote local values within the Indonesian cultural context to support the development of strong and sustainable family life.
