The Summer Course program, themed “Innovating Marine Resources: Advancing Aquatic Technology for a Sustainable Future“, is designed to explore innovative technological applications in marine resource utilization. This program focuses on key aquatic commodities such as seaweed, mangroves, and other marine plants, aiming to enhance sustainability through advanced technology and research-based solutions.
Program Structure
The program consists of theoretical sessions and hands-on field trips, covering topics such as:
• Identification and Culturing Techniques for Marine Algae
• Biotechnology in Marine Algae and Other Marine Flora Processing
• Natural Products from Marine Algae and Other Flora
• Functional Food Products from Algae and Mangrove
• Utilization and Manufacturing of Marine Algae
• Microalgae and Seaweed Manufacturing in Indonesia
Why Join?
This Summer Course offers a hands-on learning experience in marine algae identification, isolation, and cultivation, along with its processing into functional food, cosmeceuticals, and nutraceuticals. Participants will engage in cross-cultural discussions on marine algae applications and technologies while earning 2 academic credits (90 learning hours). Strong industry and academic partnerships with PT Ijo, PT Rumah Rumput Laut, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, James Cook University, and Singapore Institute of Technology provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and exposure to real-world innovations in sustainable marine resource utilization.
