Summer Course – Aquatic Resource Management

A Tapestry of Aquatic Biodiversity, Thriving for a Sustainable Future

Program Overview

The H2O Summer Course 2025, hosted by the Department of Aquatic Resources Management, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University, in collaboration with the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (PKSPL) IPB, explores the significance of aquatic biodiversity in fostering a sustainable future.

Amidst growing challenges such as climate change, overexploitation, and habitat degradation, the program highlights innovative solutions within the blue economy to mitigate these threats. The summer course provides a platform for academics, students, and stakeholders to engage in discussions and hands-on learning about the role of aquatic ecosystems in economic and environmental sustainability.

Program Structure
The 11-day hybrid program, scheduled for late July 2025, combines interactive lectures, lab work, field studies, and discussions to enhance participants’ understanding of tropical aquatic biodiversity and its contribution to socio-economic well-being. Key topics include:
• Aquatic biodiversity from genetic to ecosystem levels
• Blue economy applications
• Climate change impacts and ecosystem restoration

By fostering research collaboration, student mentorship, and international networking, the program aims to inspire the next generation of leaders in aquatic biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
