Summer Course – Department of Food Technology

Program Overview

CoffeeCrack Summer Course 2026: Unveiling Indonesia’s Bean-to-Cup Journey through Science and Technology is a 3-week hybrid program organized by the Division of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IPB University, in collaboration with SEAFAST Center-IPB. The program offers an immersive exploration of coffee science, technology, and culture through a combination of online and offline learning experiences.

The program consists of:

• Asynchronous Learning: July 13–17, 2026
• Online Lectures: July 21–27, 2026
• Offline Hands-on Sessions at IPB Dramaga: July 27–31, 2026

Participants will explore a wide range of topics, including coffee varieties, post-harvest processing, brewing techniques, fermentation, sustainability, health benefits, and industrial applications of coffee. The learning experience is enriched through practical sessions such as coffee roasting, cupping, extraction, preservation techniques, and a field excursion to a coffee plantation and coffee roaster.

Throughout the program, participants will engage in interactive lectures, hands-on activities, group assignments, and cross-cultural exchange. Upon completion, participants will receive transferable course credits and a certificate of participation:

• 2 transferable credits for online participation
• 4 transferable credits for full participation (limited seats available)
