Enhancing Student Competencies in Tropical Health Dairy Management
Summer Course – School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
The Summer Course “Enhancing Student Competencies in Tropical Health Dairy Management” is designed to equip veterinary students with a comprehensive understanding of dairy cattle management in tropical regions. Organized by the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB), IPB University, this program provides both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in managing dairy cattle health, reproduction, and nutrition.
Given the critical role of the dairy sector in food security and the economy, this program addresses key challenges such as infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, nutritional management, and reproductive efficiency. Participants will gain in-depth insights into disease prevention and treatment, artificial insemination techniques, pregnancy management, and optimal feeding strategies tailored for tropical climates.
The course combines lectures with field visits to dairy farms, allowing participants to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and engage with farmers and industry professionals. Open to veterinary and related disciplines, this program aims to develop skilled professionals capable of improving dairy productivity and sustainability in tropical regions.
