Summer Course – Agronomy and Horticulture

Advanced Technology In Plant Breeding And Biotechnology For Agricultural Resilience

Program Overview

The Summer Course on Advanced Technology in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology for Agricultural Resilience is organized by the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University.

Agriculture today faces unprecedented challenges, including climate anomalies, land degradation, and the declining availability of fertile land for crop production. In response to these challenges, advances in plant breeding and biotechnology have become increasingly important in developing adaptive, resilient, and high-yielding crop varieties that support sustainable agriculture.

This summer course aims to enhance participants’ understanding of advanced technologies in plant breeding and biotechnology, including OMICS technologies, genetic transformation, CRISPR, and digital phenotyping. The program also highlights the role of biotechnology in accelerating crop improvement for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, nutritional enhancement, and agricultural resilience.

The program combines lectures, discussions, laboratory exposure, and collaborative academic activities involving experts and participants from various countries. Through this course, participants are expected to strengthen their scientific knowledge, expand international networks, and contribute to future innovations in tropical agriculture and sustainable food systems.
