About Inbound Program
Application Procedure for Inbound Students to IPB University
Step 1. Nomination
The partner university/institution selects and nominates prospective inbound students to IPB University (International Education Office e-mail: inbound@apps.ipb.ac.id)
Step 2. Online Application
Nominated students complete the Application Form and Registration Form and submit the required documents before the application deadline.

Step 3. Application Review
IPB University reviews the student’s eligibility and submitted documents.
Step 4. Letter of Acceptance Issuance
Successful applicants receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from IPB University.
Step 5. Visa and Immigration Assistance
IPB University assists students with the visa and immigration process according to applicable regulations.
The visa issuance process typically takes approx. 30 days.
Step 6. Arrival Preparation
After the visa is issued, students may book their flight to Indonesia and complete pre-arrival arrangements, including accommodation, travel information, and pre-arrival online orientation.
Step 7. Orientation and Study
Students attend the orientation program and begin their academic activities at IPB University.
- Student Status: Undergraduate students must have completed at least one year of study; graduate students must have completed at least one semester of study at their home university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Have an English Proficiency Test score of at least B2 CEFR or equivalent. IELTS 5.5–6.5 / TOEFL ITP 500+ / TOEFL iBT 61+ / Duolingo English Test (DET) 95+.
- Field of Study: The student’s academic background should be relevant to the selected courses or academic activities at IPB University.
- Application Eligibility: Students must be nominated by a partner university of IPB University under an active cooperation agreement, or hold an LoA issued by IPB University, a research institution, or a research center of IPB University.
For applicants from non-English-speaking countries, an English proficiency certificate is required.

- Scan the two identity pages of your passport.
- Place the passport flat during scanning.
- Ensure the entire pages are clearly visible and all information is legible.

Course Load
Minimum 10 credits, maximum 20 credits per semester, required for exchange students.
1 credit (SKS/Indonesia Semester Credit Unit) equals 45 hours of total study workload over 14-16 week semester.
For lectures, tutorials, or response sessions, 1 SKS consists of:
- 50 minutes/week of learning activities
- 60 minutes/week of structured assignments
- 60 minutes/week of independent study
1 SKS is approx. equivalent to 1.5 ECTS credits
Grading System
IPB University uses a 4.0 grading scale. The grading scale is as follows:
On-Campus Accommodation
- IPB International Dormitory (Asrama Internasional): Accommodation is available for international students, subject to room availability.
- Estimated cost: IDR 2,300,000 – 2,500,000 per month.
- Application: IPB University will apply for dormitory accommodation on behalf of the student based on their housing preference indicated in the application.
- Students pay the accommodation fee directly to the accommodation management after arrival.
Off-Campus Accommodation
- Due to the limited capacity of on-campus housing, IPB University can assist students in contacting private accommodation providers around the IPB Dramaga Campus.
- Estimated cost: IDR 1,700,000 – 3,000,000 per month.
- Students pay the accommodation fee directly to the accommodation management after arrival.
Accommodation Scholarship
International students studying at IPB University for at least one semester may apply for an accommodation scholarship, subject to the applicable requirements and availability.
