The 4th Summer Course on Indonesia’s Tropical Landscape: Cultural Landscape

Program Overview


The 4th Summer Course on Indonesia’s Tropical Landscape, organized by the Department of Landscape Architecture, IPB University, was conducted in a hybrid format under the theme Cultural Landscape. The offline session was held on February 5–15, 2026 in Bogor and Yogyakarta, consisting of lectures, group discussions, and field-based activities.

Participants visited several key sites, including Bogor Botanical Garden, Pentingsari Village, Keraton Yogyakarta, Taman Sari, Kotagede, Prambanan Temple, as well as Istiqlal Mosque and Jakarta Cathedral. These visits provided direct exposure to cultural landscapes, local traditions, and historical environments. The offline program also included progress report presentations, a campus tour, and a cultural night.

The online session was conducted on March 2–13, 2026, covering topics such as tropical landscapes, cultural heritage, and landscape planning and management. The program involved 148 participants from several countries, including Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Overall, the program combined academic learning with practical experience while supporting cross-cultural exchange among participants.
