IPB University and the Republic of Zimbabwe Delegation Discuss Strengthening Educational Cooperation
Bogor, June 21, 2025 – IPB University received a visit from the delegation of the Republic of Zimbabwe in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of higher education and student exchange. In this meeting, the two parties discussed the potential for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, and student exchange. Zimbabwe currently has 72 students studying in Indonesia, and hopes that number can continue to grow through scholarship programs such as the KNB Scholarship and TIAS Scholarship offered by IPB.
The meeting was attended by a number of high-ranking officials from both parties. The Zimbabwean delegation was led by HE Z.R. Churu, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and accompanied by HE Martin Makaruru, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Indonesia. Also present were a number of officials from Zimbabwean educational institutions, as well as staff from the Zimbabwean Embassy in Jakarta. Meanwhile, IPB University was represented by the university’s leadership, including Prof. Dr. Arif Satria as the rector, Prof. drh. Deni Noviana, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Iskandar Z. Siregar, as vice rectors along with several other leaders.
Prof. Iskandar emphasized IPB University’s focus on agriculture and welcomed cooperation that could support the development of Zimbabwe’s educational capacity. Zimbabwe itself has a well-known agricultural-based university such as Marondera University.
This meeting is an important step in encouraging programs such as student exchange, double degree, and international internship programs. This cooperation is expected to be continued concretely to expand the network of educational and research cooperation.
