Visit IPB University, Nebraska Lt Governor Wants to Strengthen Food Security Cooperation to Sharia Business
IPB University received a visit from the Government of Nebraska, the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) of the United States, the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), and the United States Embassy to Indonesia. Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska, Joe Kelly and the delegation from UNL were received directly by Rector of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria in Rector’s Conference Room 1, Campus of IPB Dramaga (19/7). In his welcoming speech, Rector of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria expressed his welcome to the Campus of IPB University to the Lt Governor of Nebraska, Joe Kelly and the team.
Furthermore, the Rector explained the current situation of IPB University’s development. “Currently IPB University is ranked 51 in the world in the QS World University Ranking (WUR) 2024, number 1 in ASEAN and number 7 in Asia,” he said.
To the Lt Governor, he also explained that IPB University has established about 400 collaborations globally, including with the United States.
“There are about 400 global collaborations that have been established by IPB University, including with the United States, including those related to coffee research,” said Prof. Arif.
Not only that, the Rector also stated that 35 percent of IPB University’s innovation results had been successfully commercialized which were seriously managed by the Science and Techno Park (STP). IPB University also has an innovation product outlet, Serambi Botani which is spread across 22 shopping malls in Indonesia.
“Hopefully the visit of UNL United States can strengthen cooperation with IPB University, and increase productivity in the fields of education, research, and community service,” said Prof. Arif.
Lt Governor of Nebraska, Joe Kelly in his speech expressed his gratitude to IPB University for welcoming his team with warmth. He said that he had witnessed many rapid developments of IPB University.
“We want to learn especially those that focus on food security,” he said.
He said, the University of Nebraska Lincoln had previously conducted cooperation and would end this month. “We want to strengthen and discuss more about cooperation, especially in terms of research, exchange of lecturers and students, also related to community empowerment,” he added.
Not only that, he admitted that the Nebraska Government and UNL also wanted to learn about sharia business, as well as halal products for a small Muslim community there. (dh/Rz)
