IPB University and RIZE, Pte. Ltd. Forge Partnership to Advance Sustainable Rice Farming
Bogor, February 4th, 2025 – IPB University has officially established a partnership with RIZE, Pte., Ltd., a Singapore-based agritech company specializing in decarbonizing rice farming, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed by Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni, Prof. Iskandar Zulkarnaen Siregar. This agreement aims to strengthen synergies in education, research, and community empowerment, particularly in supporting sustainable agriculture and food security in Indonesia. It also marks the initial step toward building a long-term collaboration to develop sustainable farming technologies and practices, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while improving farmers’ welfare.
The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Dr. Eva Anggraini, Director of Global Connectivity, who expressed the institution’s enthusiasm for this collaboration and introduced distinguished guests from IPB. Following this, Mr. Dhruv Sawhney, CEO of RIZE, presented the company’s vision for creating a premium rice production system. He emphasized the importance of decarbonizing the agricultural sector, particularly in rice cultivation, by implementing digital agronomy technology and environmentally friendly farming practices such as the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) system.
As a follow-up, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, IPB University will further discuss program implementation with Mr. Wirastanto, RIZE’s Country Director for Indonesia. Additionally, RIZE is opening opportunities for IPB students to intern at their field laboratories, where they can gain hands-on experience in digital MRV technology, risk management, and agricultural innovation. Currently, RIZE has implemented AWD strategies in regions such as Indramayu and Pekalongan, with plans to expand its impact in the coming years.
