IPB University’s holds Workshop on Curriculum of Circular Economy in the K2025 Master’s Program in Resource and Environmental Economics

IPB University, through the Department of Resource and Environmental Economics, held an open curriculum discussion forum on Monday, December 29th 2025. The meeting, which is a part of the Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education: Building Capacities for a Transition to a Circular Economy or CEBCAT Consortium, aimed to brainstorm and gather feedback on how to implement circular economy concepts into the Master Study Program in Resource and Environmental Economics. The meeting was attended by lecturers in charge of course teaching at this study program.

At this workshop the attendees discuss the syllabus of Circular Economy and its alignment with the existing curriculum (K2020). The session was opened by remarks from Dr. Adi Hadianto, the Head of the Department of Resource and Environmental Economics. “Now is the right time to implement Circular Economy into our new K2025 curriculum, which is currently being developed. IPB is currently transforming its K2020 into K2025 embracing the latest science in each field. The discussion of the circular economy curriculum coincides perfectly with this period of transformation.
The CEBCAT project provides capacity building for the teaching team. “It is a great opportunity for our young lecturers to increase their capacity in teaching Circular Economy, while they are also benefitted with teaching materials provided within the CEBCAT project” says Dr. Hadianto. During the workshop, all attendees also discussed the plan on how to implement the Circular Economy curriculum into the newest curriculum (K2025). Dr. Hadianto expects there will be many students interested in taking these courses considering the highly relevance of Circular Economy to provide solutions for the global environmental problems and climate change.
